Technorati Brands: Bird's Eye, Maps.Live.com, Google Maps, street view, Lisbon, Porto
Microsoft recently released a feature Bird's Eye in Lisbon and Porto.
This feature allows us to access the map through image areas, taken at low altitude by a plane, and not via satellite. Obviously these images have a much higher definition than the satellite. It is perfectly possible to identify the buildings, gardens, etc ... as you can see in the image below:

In the near future, more cities will be covered by this feature:
- Faro
- Aveiro
- Braga
- Coimbra
- Guimaraes
- Leiria
- Setubal
The concept Bird's Eye and Eagle Eye is in the photos taken at an angle of 45 from the ground. There are 4 different perspectives, of 360, ie North, South, East and West.
How will Google react to Portugal? Will soon will "walk" the streets of Lisbon through Google Maps, as is already possible in other cities of the world? Let's wait and see ... the data are released, and in Portugal, Microsoft goes a step ahead.
Can see in the picture from above is an example of the Google Street View in the city of New York. A very interesting concept, but not yet available in Portugal.

I am almost sure that the range of cities covered by this service should be extended over time. It is certainly an excellent application.

Jose can see the entire municipality of Vila do Conde, just search for "Vila do Conde" in maps.live.com.
Unfortunately, Bird's eye view is not available in this city.
