Often we need to move the GPS to identify a site on google maps. The best way to do is find the coordinates of the site and incorporate them into your GPS. In this article I will explain how to do it.
First navigate to a page from Google Maps:
http://maps.google.com/?hl=pt-PT (Portuguese - Portugal)
http://maps.google.com/?hl=pt-BR (Portuguese - Brazil)
On Google Maps, there are already many sites made by users and companies. Let's assume we want the coordinates to go walk up to Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon. For this, we can make a search for "Jerónimos Monastery, Lisbon, Portugal."
After the search, we identified perfectly Jerónimos Monastery on the map. ![]()
In this example, to search for a monument, but could be searched by name of a hotel, shopping center, etc ... The results were similar. We could even have searched for 'hotels in Lisbon and get a list of hotels in Lisbon.
Google at its best!
After you get the place we need to focus the map in the desired place. To focus, click the right mouse button on the exact location. It opens a small menu with some options. We should choose the option "focus the map here."
Now we have the local (Jerónimos Monastery) on the map, we need to get the coordinates of the site. Google Maps has a feature that allows us to get the link to the page where we are, including the location on the map. To obtain the link, we have to click the link "Link to this page" which will open a small window over the map, with link.
It is this link that are the coordinates of the site. A link to the Monastery of Jerónimos is:
This set of data, we have to filter the coordinates, which are located after the string of characters "ie = UTF8 & ll ="
Currently, we have the coordinates of our location. Note the minus sign (-) that appears before the second coordinate, in this example:
Latitude 38.697217 °
Longitude -9.206436 °
Let us pass the coordinates for the GPS. In this case I use TomTom on my PDA, but for other systems method is quite similar.
Started TomTom and select "Add Bookmark" to add the Monastery of the favorites of Jerónimos GPS.

In the following menu to surf the second page and choose "Latitude Longitude".

On page of the introduction of coordinates, we must first introduce the Latitude, which in this case is:
N 38.697217 º

Because we chose a positive value N (N), if negative should choose S (South)
After clicking "Done" to move to the page of Longitude, which should enter the value:
W 9.206436 º

As a negative chose W (West-West), if positive should choose E (East-East)
Click again on "Done" and then just give us the name you want to bookmark we just created.

Click again on "Done," and we Jerónimos Monastery as a favorite in our GPS. ![]()
Now just navigate to it! I can only wish you Good Trip!

@ rui sdantos
Rui unfortunately I have the Navigon 1210, or know, so I can not help you. However, almost all GPS's provide the introduction of coordinates, therefore, should be something similar to the TomTom.

Good morning,
Google Maps provides only the degrees "of" in coordination. I have w890i phone, and when I add the coordinated he lets me enter in the latitude 00 º 00'00 .00 "and longitude 000 ° 00'00 in the .00." How can I enter those coordinates in google maps in that format? Thank you very much.
